Question to everybody saying D - How is "availability" defined? It's defined via the maximum downtime of something - no matter if it needs to be recovered or ist simply taken offline for maintenance. An availability of 99,9% means a maximum downtime of 0,1%.

The MTD (also know as MAD), is linked to recovery, not availability. Interesting articles that details that with examples : https://tandem.app/blog/what-is-the-difference-between-rpo-rto-mtd

Selected Answer: C
its C The Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD) specifies the maximum duration that a system or application can be unavailable or inoperable without causing significant negative impact. here, the requirement states that the MTD for all Tier 1 applications is one hour, so its C. Availability

It's D -Recoverability, MTD – Maximum Tolerable Downtime: Sum of the RTO and WRT, which is the total time required to recover from a disaster and start serving the business again. https://vcdx133.com/2015/01/28/vcdx-availability-explained/

D. Recoverability They measure the Recoverability in MTD. Key item to note there. Availability is measured vai Redundancy (N+1) or SLA (Class of Nines)

I say C is correct. Nothing in the question states that the service has to be recovered. It simply states that it can't be down for more than an hour. Think Maintenance windows. Can't be down for more than 1 hour for patching, upgrades, etc...

Curious if MTD is actually availability or recoverability.
