Exam 2V0-21.23 topic 1 question 96 discussion

Actual exam question from VMware's 2V0-21.23
Question #: 96
Topic #: 1
[All 2V0-21.23 Questions]

An administrator remotely deploys VMware ESXi using an out of band management connection and now needs to complete the configuration of the management network so that the host is ac-cessible through the vSphere Host Client.

The following information has been provided to complete the configuration:

• Host FQDN: esxi01.corp.local
• Management VLAN ID: 10
• DHCP: No
• Management IP Address: 172.16.10.101/24
• Management IP Gateway: 172.16.10.1
• Corporate DNS Servers: 172.16.10.5, 172.16.10.6
• DNS Domain: corp.local

In addition, all host configurations must also meet the following requirements:

• The management network must use only IPv4 network protocols.
• The management network must be fault tolerant.

Which four high level tasks should the administrator complete in the Direct Console User Inter-face (DCUI) in order to meet the requirements and successfully log into the vSphere Host Cli-ent? (Choose four.)

  • A. Set the value of the VMware ESXi Management Network VLAN ID to 10.
  • B. Configure at least two network adapters for the VMware ESXi Management Network.
  • C. Update the VMware ESXi Management Network IPv4 configuration to use a static IPv4 ad-dress.
  • D. Create a DNS A Record for the VMware ESXi host on the corporate DNS servers.
  • E. Disable IPv6 for the VMware ESXi Management Network.
  • F. Restore the original Management vSphere Standard Switch.
  • G. Update the VMware ESXi Management Network DNS configuration to use the corporate DNS servers for names resolution.

Selected Answer: ABCE
A is explicitly required: 'Management VLAN ID: 10' B is explicitly required: 'The management network must be fault tolerant.' C is implicitly required as a static IP address has been provided D is done on the DNS servers, not the DCUI E is explicitly required as only IPv4 has been allowed F there's nothing to restore G It's not the 'management network DNS config', it's the host's global DNS config used by all services, including iSCSI and whatnot.

D. Create a DNS A Record for the VMware ESXi host on the corporate DNS servers. This is necessary but not performed through the DCUI; it's done on the DNS server. E. Disable IPv6 for the VMware ESXi Management Network. While this meets the IPv4-only requirement, it isn't explicitly necessary since the focus is on IPv4 configuration. F. Restore the original Management vSphere Standard Switch. This is not relevant to the configuration tasks outlined.

So E or G is correct for sure? Even the voting, I am G now...

You don't need to disable IPV6 to successfully log into a host. That is not a req. DNS on the other hand, is a requirement. G.

You don't need to resolve your ESXi host name.

I'm choosing ABC with *G* and not E because answer C states "Update the VMware ESXi Management Network IPv4 configuration to use a static IPv4 address." We don't need to specifically disable IPv6 in this case because it already has an IPv4 address assigned (Answer E).

IPv4 is a requirement (MUST be used), so IPv6 must be disabled.

It doesn't have to be disabled to meet the min requirements " order to meet the requirements and successfully log into the vSphere Host Client? (Choose four.)"

I would say abce, work that needs to be done in local interface. Not external dns or something

Disabling ipv6 is not a requirement to meet the min requirements as asked for in the question " order to meet the requirements and successfully log into the vSphere Host Cli-ent? (Choose four.)"

ABCG is correct and can be done in the DCUI of the ESXi host. Remember the question states "Which four high level task should the administrator complete in the DIRECT CONSOLE USER INTERFACE in order to meet the requirements. Answers D and F cannot be done in the DCUI of the ESXi host. Answer E - IPv6 is not needed to meet the requirements and it stated it must use IPv4 protocol

IPv4 is a requirement (MUST be used), so IPv6 should be disabled. DNS is not in the requirements and is not needed to login to vSphere Host Client --> Correct answer is ABCE

it is not necessary to disable IPv6 to use only IPv4. It is a basic.

The correct answers are A, C, E, and G. Here are the steps to configure the management network on the ESXi host: Set the value of the VMware ESXi Management Network VLAN ID to 10. Configure at least two network adapters for the VMware ESXi Management Network. Update the VMware ESXi Management Network IPv4 configuration to use a static IPv4 address. Disable IPv6 for the VMware ESXi Management Network. Update the VMware ESXi Management Network DNS configuration to use the corporate DNS servers for names resolution. The other options are incorrect:

I'll go for E and not D because "The management network must use only IPv4 network protocols." and without DNS you can still access the host using the IP
