Two vSphere features that help address an organization’s business availability challenges are vSphere High Availability (HA) and vSphere Fault Tolerance1.
vSphere HA provides the foundation for a highly available environment by monitoring the virtual machines and the hosts upon which they run2. It can automatically restart virtual machines affected by host failures on other hosts that have spare capacity2.
vSphere Fault Tolerance provides continuous availability for applications in the event of server failures by creating a live shadow instance of a virtual machine that is always up-to-date with the primary virtual machine1.
