An "architecture view" is a representation of a system from the perspective of a related set of concerns.
An "architecture viewpoint" is a specification of the conventions for a particular kind of architecture view. It can also be called the definition or schema for that kind of architecture view.
- An "architecture view" is what you see; an architecture viewpoint is where you are looking from - the vantage point or perspective that determines what you see.
- "Architecture viewpoints" are generic, and can be stored in libraries for re-use; an architecture view is always specific to the architecture for which it is created.
- Every "architecture view" has an associated architecture viewpoint that describes it, at least implicitly.

"A view is a representation of a whole system from the perspective of a related set of concerns....A viewpoint defines the perspective from which a view is taken. More specifically, a viewpoint defines: how to construct and use a view (by means of an appropriate schema or template); the information that should appear in the view; the modeling techniques for expressing and analyzing the information; and a rationale for these choices (e.g., by describing the purpose and intended audience of the view)."
