MUNIFICENT : GENEROSITY ::

  • A. dolorous : sorrow
  • B. domineering : timidity
  • C. indisputable : confidence
  • D. fortunate : luck
  • E. beguiled : judiciousness
Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: A 🗳️
This is a "defining characteristic" analogy. A MUNIFICENT person is characterized by great GENEROSITY; similarly, a dolorous person is characterized by great sorrow. Since luck can be either bad or good, choice D. is not as strong an analogy as choice (A).

The best answer is D. fortunate : luck, as "fortunate" describes someone who is experiencing good fortune, which is the state or condition associated with luck, similar to how "munificent" describes someone who is generous, which is the state or condition associated with generosity.

Fortunate just means lucky, so that's not as complete an analogy as very generous: very sorrowful.
