SENSATION : PARALYSIS ::

  • A. sincerity : dishonesty
  • B. obesity : diet
  • C. insult : injury
  • D. apathy : curiosity
  • E. scarcity : surplus
Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: B 🗳️
This is a "symptom of" analogy. One sign of PARALYSIS is the lack of SENSATION
(feeling). Similarly, one sign of dieting is the lack of obesity. As for choices A. and (E), the two words in each pair are antonyms. The same cant be said for sensation and paralysis. Paralysis is not defined by a lack of sensation, but by lack of ability to move.

E. scarcity : surplus - "Surplus" is the opposite of "scarcity" because it represents an abundance or excess of something, which is the opposite of a shortage or scarcity. The best answer is E. scarcity : surplus, as it represents the same kind of opposite relationship as "sensation" and "paralysis."

This doesn't make sense, as the relationship is backwards. Sensation (having feeling): paralysis (results in lack thereof) is equivalent to obesity (excess weight): diet (accompanied by lower weight). If the option was surplus: scarcity, I would agree, but it is not.
