THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS: Evaluate: x4 - y if x = 3 and y = 20 (the problem is missing the minus sign)

It looks like the 3 was just placed next to the 4. The parenthesis means to multiply and part of the solution reads: 34(20)--this tells me to multiply 34 by 20. More clarification is needed.
