You have the following primary data source that contains a dimension named Dorm_Code.

You receive the following secondary data source that contains updated dorm codes.

You need to bring the updated dorm codes into Tableau and use the codes in existing visualizations. The new dorm codes must use the existing field name of Dorm_Code.

Data blending alows make a left join with a common field like Dorm Name. This will allow to bring the Dorm_code_new field. On the primary data source we could correct the value "Mazy" on Alias feature to make it equal to the "Mazie" value so that we bring the "A5" value.

Reasons on Why Option C is not correct 1.We need to replace the Dorm Code and not the Dorm Name. So, If we use Option C, then Replace reference on Dorm_code will replace the values with Dorm_code_new. But the column name also will be changed as Dorm _code_new. Expectation is Column name should be same. We should not replace reference the Dorm_name field. Option D Would solve this use case.

C is not correct as relationship is for multiple connections instead of datasources.

C should be the answer, as replace references is easier. It is possible to do with B, but you'd be creating an extra dimension for no reason.
