I think, its C and D To Transfer the captainancy to a preffered member, run this command from any member: splunk transfer shcluster-captain -mgmt_uri <new_captain> .... Additions: Splunk rollling-restart shcluster-members automatically invokkes the captainancy transfer. To check the transfer status, run this from any member: splunk show shcluster-status

B C D - there is no mention of the full command to run, just that you _do_ run transfer shcluster-captain (with the mgmt_uri parameter) and that can be done on any of the cluster members including the captain.

B,C i believe https://docs.splunk.com/Documentation/Splunk/8.1.3/DistSearch/Transfercaptain#Transfer_captaincy Running the command in D does not employ the captain specifically to that host. You still need to specify the captain's management URI
