X̄-S,charts are ideal for processes with subgroups and continuous data, especially when subgroup sizes are relatively large. The standard deviation considers all data points in the subgroup, while the range only focuses on the difference between the smallest and largest values, making it more sensitive to outliers.
X bar S charts plots the subgroup standard deviation whereas
X bar R charts plots the subgroup range.
I-MR chart the group size is one only
