the question says "subsequent discovery is run against a different windows server" this implies that there is a second windows server to consider. In this case, the answer has to be B.

the OOB IRE rule has a higher priority for the serial number (derived from the Hardware Class), IRE will stop with the first matching condition that delivery a unique identification, therefore it would consider the serialnumber as significant. Thus I opt for A

I would say the answer is A, it would only NOT update the name if a less authoritative data source was used.
