Model categories associate CI classes with asset classes. Model categories are part of the Product Catalog application.
The model category configuration determines if the ServiceNow platform creates an asset from a CI, and, if so, what class of asset. Asset classes in the base system are Hardware, Software License, and Consumable.
B. Model categories determine when to create assets from configuration items (CIs): Model categories help define the criteria or conditions under which configuration items are transformed into assets. They specify the rules or triggers that indicate when a configuration item should be converted into an asset in the asset management system.
D. Model categories provide the link between configuration management and asset management: Model categories serve as a connection point between the processes of configuration management and asset management. They help bridge the gap between the two domains by providing a means to associate and manage configuration items as assets within the asset management system.
