From the SAM Pro training (Software Request and Sourcing):
Service Catalog: Central listing of goods and services an organization provides - End users order from the Service Catalog.
Product Catalog: Collection of Models in the environment - models can be easily published to the Product Catalog and are then automatically published to the Service Catalog.
Vendor Catalog: Listing of goods available from a vendor - items in the Vendor Catalog link to models in the Product Catalog.
This one is confusing between Product and Service Catalogs.
Product Catalog = "Listing of goods an organization provides." https://docs.servicenow.com/en-US/bundle/vancouver-it-asset-management/page/product/product-catalog/concept/c_ProductCatalog.html
Service Catalog = "Collection of Models in the environment" https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/vancouver-servicenow-platform/page/product/service-catalog-management/concept/c_IntroductionToCatalogItems.html
This video really explains it: https://www.servicenow.com/community/training-and-certifications/service-catalog-administration-overview/ta-p/2297657
I found this blog/discussion to be helpful about Product and Service Catalog differences and uses: https://www.servicenow.com/community/now-platform-forum/service-catalog-items-vs-product-catalog-items-hardware-software/m-p/1058403
Vendor Catalog = "Listing of goods offered or available by a third party". This one is pretty clear.
I was so bothered by this one, I pressed on and Question #145 of this exam asks: "Which catalog provides a collection of models in the environment?" and the correct answer was "C.Product Catalog".
Product Catalog, as it's a collection of models in the environment.
(it is not service catalog, as that is a listing of goods and services an organization provides.)
Product Catalog:The product catalog is a set of information about individual models
Service Catalog: create service catalogs that provide your customers with self-service opportunities
True but this was not very helpful in identifying the answers for Product and Service Catalogs. This one was tricky!
