It has to be B, bear in mind that a CI has a reasonable number of attributes that a pattern will identify during the discovery process. No Discoverable CI, no point using a pattern, no reason to debug!
B is correct. On page 266 of the Discovery Fundamentals Guide Book it says: "Note: Debug Mode is used to test pattern steps and verify variable values against a CI prior to running discovery".
