This question is outdated. Process builder and Workflow are no longer an option as Salsforce today does not allow the creation of new processes with these tools anymore. Apex is the only in-Salesforce option that is possible, but AppExchange could be a better alternative in some cases, as tools like rollup helper exist which can achieve this easily.

I don't think Apex can be considered as a Automation Solution. I think here they are expecting something like a No Code. Also AppExchange can't be used here as We have 2 new fields on Objects which have to be populated. Dashboards will create new formula fields but cant assign value to existing Object record fields. So Workflows/Process Builder should be the solution. If this question is going to be asked in near future then options will have Flows in the options

Why is not AppExchange and Apex? The inclusion of AppExchange in the options, to me, suggests that the app builder needs to explore third-party apps or tools available on the AppExchange for automation, including reporting and analytics tools. AppExchange doesn't directly provide an out-of-the-box solution but might guide the app builder to search for suitable tools that meet the specific reporting requirements. Salesforce started the process of moving away from Workflow Rules and Process Builder. In fact, PB will no longer get support in 2023 (Which is almost over). No need to consider either to solve this problem. The only issue I have with the question is why Salesforce did not include "Flow" in the options. My choices are BD

Workflow shouldnt be used at all as its deprecated. Apex is a natural thing and Process Builder can be used as well. This question seems old as its missing Flow as an option

I agree i think this is an old questions but I'm not sure if its better to just stick with A & C because of it. If it is old then it would be A & C if not then C & D I would think
