Cloud Kicks has three types of customer support processes: Platinum, Diamond, and Bronze. The app builder created separate record types for each process on the Case object. The customer support team should be unable to create new cases with the Bronze record type.

How should this requirement be met?

  • A. Update the organization-wide defaults to private for Case.

I think this might be B - Update the support team profile to remove the Bronze record type. removing the Bronze record type from the support team's profile would be the most direct and straightforward way to meet the requirement. Option C (Creating a permission set) would also be a possible solution, but it's a more complex solution than simply removing the record type from the profile.

ASK: "The customer support team should not be able to create new cases with the Bronze record type" -- The customer support team may still need to access the Bronze record type just not to create new cases. VALID QUESTION: If we Update the support team profile to remove the Bronze record type, wont that prevent them from ultimately seeing cases related to the Bronze record?

Selected Answer: B
B is the only correct answer however in 2026 Record Type access will be on permission set groups instead of profiles. Also just to clarify about why C (permission sets) is completely wrong: The question is implying that customer support has create abilities for all three objects currently. The question does not specify that we need to GIVE Create access for diamond or platinum but rather that the team should NOT have Create access for Bronze record types. Since this is the only ask in the question we have to assume they are trying to remove Create access on the bronze record type. Permission sets however can only ADD access they do not REMOVE it so C can not be correct.
