Universal Containers (UC) is updating the Service Cloud console app for its call center agents. Management is concerned that deploying the new app will disrupt current operations and impact customer satisfaction.
What should the consultant recommend to mitigate these concerns?

  • A. Configure the new app in a sandbox. Use a change-set to push the configuration to production for testing and training.
  • B. Configure the new app in developer org and use an unmanaged package to deploy to production.
  • C. Deploy the configuration from a sandbox to production during the next Salesforce version update so the system only goes down once.

Selected Answer: D
Not A "to production for testing and training" (Testing shouldn't be in Production) Not B "unmanaged package" "Unmanaged packages should not be used to migrate components from a sandbox to production organization." D: already configured and tested, Profile updates can be performed in Production.

It’s not A as you don’t test in production. It’s not B, see https://developer.salesforce.com/docs/atlas.en-us.packagingGuide.meta/packagingGuide/packaging_developing_unmanaged.htm

Having unmanaged package installation approach in production you can't Uninstall the package if it is being referenced by component which is not part of that package You cannot upgrade unmanaged packages. You will have to uninstall the previous one.
