Exam Certified Tableau CRM and Einstein Discovery Consultant topic 1 question 34 discussion

A shipping company created a dataset, "Book11," containing budget per region per month for the first six months of 2018. The dataset is shown in the graphic.
Now, they want to create a lens showing the total budget for each region for each month. Every combination of region and month must be shown in the lens, even if there is no data.
How can a Tableau CRM Consultant help this company build this lens?

  • A. Use a "Compare Table" and add a column leveraging the "Running Total" function.
  • B. Use a "Compare Table" and use the "Show summary" option.
  • C. Use a SAQL query leveraging the "fill" statement with a "partition" parameter.
  • D. Use a SAQL query to create fake rows for any data that is missing data from the dataset.

I review the questions in my dev org. I still cannot tell for sure the right answer. A : No, running total is not working because it needs 2 measures and 1 dimension. Here Date is not a measure (but a date) and the function is greyed out (even though one could extract the month in a dataflow/recipe). B : Maybe. I can obtain what is descried using the "show subtotal" setting of Compare table with the proper grouping, or pivot table. However "show subtotal" is different than "show summary" in description. I don't know what they refer to with "show summary". C : Maybe. I guess It could work indeed and fill the gaps (there could be a date gap, where no data is reported for specific month, for example). I realize that this "fill" function is what should be used for the 1st challenge of the superbadge, by the way. D : I might miss the point here but why create a fake row for a missing data, it makes no sense...
