Another source lists B as the correct answer. If a record is on the detail side of a M/D relationship, you cannot set its sharing settings, as it will inherit the parent record's settings.

I think B is fine In the list that you provided Custom Objects controlled by parent ( detail in Master Detail relationship) can not have sharing rule.

It should be Public Readonly or Private. But A is Read/Write.
