Universal Containers uses Kanban to complete its Salesforce development. In the middle of a sprint, the sales manager submits an important item to the team. What should the business analyst do next?
A.
Ask the team to reprioritize the backlog and work on the Item at the top.
B.
Ask the team to commit to the work for the next sprint.
C.
Ask the team to pivot and complete the work immediately.
(reprioritizing the backlog and working on the item at the top) might seem like a good idea, but it could disrupt the current flow. Kanban typically works with continuous flow and flexibility, so reprioritizing in the middle of the sprint isn't always the most efficient approach.
Kanban teams do not make the same commitments—and they don’t have sprint backlogs. In other words, teams using this workflow are more open to taking on a last-minute request. When they’re finished with a work item, they move to the next highest-priority task.
