Actual exam question from Salesforce's Certified Sharing and Visibility Designer
Question #: 76

[All Certified Sharing and Visibility Designer Questions]

Universal Containers (UC) sales managers are complaining that they cannot access their teams’ Shipment records (a custom object). Initially, the admin suggested that this is happening due to misconfigured role hierarchy (Shipment OWD is Private). After investigation, they determined the role hierarchy for these users is correct.
What can be the reason why Universal Containers sales managers are not able to see Shipment records?

  • A. Sales managers have only the Read permission on the Shipment object and should not be able to edit their team records.
  • B. Ownership-based sharing rule for Shipment was incorrectly disabled by the Salesforce admin.
  • C. Role hierarchy implicit sharing was incorrectly disabled by the Salesforce admin.
  • D. The Grant Access Using Hierarchies option on Shipment Sharing Settings was incorrectly disabled by the Salesforce admin.

Selected Answer: D
D. If the Grant Access Using Hierarchiesoption is deselected, users that are higher in the role or territory hierarchy don’t receive automatic access. But some, such as those users with the View All and Modify All object permissions and the View All Data and Modify All Data system permissions can still access records that they don’t own. https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.security_controlling_access_using_hierarchies.htm&type=5

C. By disabling the Grant Access via Role Hierarchy, the Admin effectively disables the ability for anyone above the record owner in the hierarchy to see the recrds.

Implicit Sharing Implicit sharing is automatic. You can neither turn it off, nor turn it on—it is native to the application. Implicit sharing doesn't apply to custom objects. Based on documentation: https://resources.docs.salesforce.com/latest/latest/en-us/sfdc/pdf/sharing_architecture.pdf
