func(2) means num = 2, so the for loop will execute twice. First iteration (_ = 0): res starts as '*'. res += res doubles res, resulting in res = '**'. Second iteration (_ = 1): res is currently '**'. res += res doubles res again, resulting in res = '****'. After the loop completes, func(2) returns the string '****'.
