Actual exam question from PRINCE2's PRINCE2-Practitioner Edition 6
Question #: 8
Topic #: 11
[All PRINCE2-Practitioner Edition 6 Questions]

The Health and Safety Training Project is closing as planned. According to the contract terms, suppliers must submit all invoices within one week of project closure. The project manager will issue a project closure notification informing all suppliers of this invoicing deadline as part of the 'recommended project closure' activity.
Is this appropriate, and why?

  • A. Yes, because the project board should approve the project closure notification drafted by the project manager.
  • B. Yes, because a project closure notification should be sent to suppliers as part of the 'closing project' process.
  • C. No, because the project board should issue a project closure notification as part of the 'directing a project' process.
  • D. No, because the project manager should notify stakeholders using the approved project closure notification.

Correct answer should be 'B'. In the PRINCE2 project management methodology, sending a project closure notification to suppliers is a standard step in the project closure process. This notification informs suppliers of the closure of the project and any associated administrative procedures, such as invoicing deadlines. It is the responsibility of the project manager to ensure that all necessary communications, including notifications to suppliers, are issued as part of closing the project.

This one is confusing for me.. i can see many people referring to page 372 but in the page 267-268 under 20.4.5. recommend project closure section, it states that draft project closure notification prepared by project manager sent for review to project board for their approval. So then the correct answer seems to be A to me. But if you take the page 372 and 191 as a reference then C is the most suitable answer

Selected Answer: C
Sending project closure notification is done by project board after reviewing the draft notification submitted by PM. Page 191 . Activity - Authorize project closure. Process - Directing A Project

The correct answer is B. Yes, because a project closure notification should be sent to suppliers as part of the ‘closing project’ process. In PRINCE2, the ‘Closing a Project’ process is designed to provide a fixed point at which acceptance for the project product is confirmed, and to recognize that objectives set out in the original Project Initiation Documentation have been achieved (or approved changes to the objectives have been achieved), or that the project has nothing more to contribute.
