"Doesn't the fact that a team member is relocating abroad imply that they intend to leave the project? I am unsure if it is appropriate to ask someone who is planning to leave the company to participate in the project remotely.

This promotes a collaborative and inclusive approach to team dynamics, especially in IT projects where remote work is common. Question is asking about improving team dynamics.

Selected Answer: A
I would go with A. The emphasis is on the later part of the question "How should the project manager IMPROVE TEAM DYNAMICS?". In building team dynamics, the best and most effective approach is the bring team members to a physical meeting. On the scale of team management, physical is first which email/letter is the least effective approach. If you choose option D, that would be the equivalent of micro management which is never a good approach.

the question is on improving team dynamics. if this team member is needed and he is replaced + introducing a new member may not help in team dynamics. hence, let this team member continues with his work with close supervision

weekly Video conferencing does not stop the team member to relocate, replacing the team member will also cause a delay in the project.

I would go with D as replacing the team member who has been on the project from the beginning will probably introduce a delay and impact the team dynamics.

C. only works if these constraints were NOT the case: 1. project 50% complete 2. team member is critical to the project 3. team member is needed for remainder 4. PM must improve team dynamics D. is the logical answer but the phrase 'monitoring their work' makes me have lower confidence in the answer. and B. also sounded like a good choice but it is vague response to the information. stay on project? stay at location?

he project manager should not focus on improving team dynamics but should address the issue of the critical team member relocating. Option C, "Replace the team member with someone who has similar qualifications and is located closer," is the best course of action. The project manager should work with HR to find a replacement with similar qualifications and ensure they are integrated into the team as soon as possible. This will help ensure that the project can be completed on time and within budget. Options A, B, and D are not relevant to addressing the issue of the team member's relocation.

.....the question didn't say that the critical key member resigned. So D? Yes the question is vague and a bit misleading.

B. Offer the team member an incentive to stay until the end of the project. By offering an incentive to the team member, the project manager is showing that they value the team member's contributions to the project and are willing to invest in keeping them on the team. This approach can also help to maintain team morale and cohesion, as the remaining team members will feel supported and motivated to continue working towards project completion.

the intention of this problem is to ask us how to keep monitoring the team member's progress when his is relocated to another country while joinning the current project. In that sense, D could be the best choice. However, the question seems vague.

We have to find a way stick to the old employee. As find new employee will cause delay to schedule and.might increase cost.

The question does not clearly state that the team member will continue working on the project. However, looking at it from that angle D is perfect.

Selected Answer: C
C - seems to be correct.. Issue with D - 1. not sure whether he is interested / allowed to work from other country, 2. as the project is 50% completed, rest 50% can be done if we get someone with similar skill set

not sure whether he is NOT interested too / replace a team member will never be the best choice.. just keep monitoring.
