In a newly formed project team, one experienced team member is overwhelmed by the complexity of the tasks and is not happy with the project team. What should the project manager do?
A.
Explain that the tasks are unavoidable and ask the team member to find a solution to overcome the challenges
B.
Set up team-building activities with the project team members to reduce tension
C.
Ask the team member to enter this potential schedule delay in the risk register
D.
Actively listen to the team member and identify ways to support their needs in completing the tasks
D is the best answer in the option, as a leader the PM needs to listen actively to the team members concern and find ways to help the team member better handle the workload and complexity of the tasks.
completing the tasks.
The project manager should first actively listen to the team member's concerns and understand the reasons behind their dissatisfaction. This will enable the project manager to provide tailored support, such as additional resources, training, or guidance, to help the team member overcome the challenges they are facing. Addressing the team member's concerns directly will help build trust and create a positive working environment.
At first I also thought the Answer is B, but then thinking about it that the question mentions only about one person having issues. Hence, the PM would need to discuss the matter with him in this case. Additionally, the PM needs to be an active listener. Hence, the Answer is D that incorporates all the above.
D: is a real servant leadership response. I think it is a significantly better first action than B. It’s possible the issue has nothing to do with other team members.
