  • A. Notify the project stakeholders that the scope needs to be reduced in order to hold the costs within budget.
  • B. Engage with the project team to create a plan that will deliver benefits on a defined and incremental basis.

Selected Answer: B
The declining schedule performance index (SPI) indicates that the project is behind schedule. It is important for the project manager to work with the project team to understand why the trend is occurring and to create a plan to address it. The project team needs to be engaged to develop the corrective action plan to improve the SPI. The plan should be focused on delivering benefits in a defined and incremental basis to ensure that the project stays on track.

Selected Answer: B
The project manager should engage with the project team to create a plan that will deliver benefits on a defined and incremental basis (Option B). This approach aligns with agile principles, focusing on delivering value in iterations and addressing the declining schedule performance index (SPI) through incremental improvements and adjustments to the project plan.

Selected Answer: B
Collaborative problem-solving: This option prioritizes communication and teamwork. Engaging the project team allows the manager to: Uncover the root cause: Understand the reasons behind the declining SPI and team's apparent lack of concern. Identify improvement opportunities: Brainstorm solutions collectively and leverage the team's expertise to address the challenge. Build consensus and ownership: By involving the team in developing the plan, they are more likely to feel invested in its success and committed to its implementation.

SPI = EV/PV, so value (benefits) needs to be accelerated. B.

Selected Answer: B
B. Engage with the project team to create a plan that will deliver benefits on a defined and incremental basis. When the schedule performance index (SPI) is declining, it's essential to engage with the project team to understand the underlying causes and develop a plan to address the issue. Creating a plan that focuses on delivering benefits incrementally, potentially adjusting the schedule or scope as necessary, can help get the project back on track. This approach involves collaboration with the team to find effective solutions and aligns the project with its objectives while managing expectations.

It is definitely B. The PM needs to first engage the project team.

I agree the answer is definitely B. If the exam is showing D as the correct response does that mean that PMI looks at D as the correct answer? I am confused about the correct answer and most voted answers for the exam and what to follow?

I would go with B as well. You will meet first with the team to come up with a plan and probably a new delivery date. Only after you have a plan, you will go for "D". How can you come up with a more realistic schedule without discussing with the team?

D is definitely wrong. The situation has happened for 4 iterations. Why CCB should accept the delay and rebaselined. If i am a member of CCB, I will reject it. It is PM and his team to take corrective action and not the company to suffer it
