Selected Answer: D
D is the accurate answer. It’s a poorly written question, asking for a KIND of communication. PMBOK 6th does not list KINDS. Instead it lists: DIMENSIONS (pg 361): internal, external, formal, informal, hierarchical focus, official, unofficial, written and oral METHODS (pg 374): interactive, push, pull APPROACHES (pg 374): interpersonal, small group, public, mass, network and social computing Based upon the choice of answers, its clear they are asking for a “dimension” of communication. The answer is not External communication *unless the government itself is a stakeholder*. From pg 361, 6th: “External: focus on external stakeholders such as customers, vendors, other projects, organizations, government, the public, and environmental advocates”. The only other dimension that mentions government is “Official: annual reports, reports to regulators or government bodies”. The accurate answer is (D) OFFICIAL. Whether the accurate answer is the correct answer depends on the test writers.

Selected Answer: D
D. Official When creating reports for government bodies, project managers should use official communication. Official communication is typically more formal, follows specific protocols, and adheres to the established standards and regulations of the government. It is important to convey information accurately, clearly, and in a manner that aligns with the official requirements and expectations of the government body. While formal communication is a general characteristic of official communication, the term "official" specifically emphasizes the authoritative and sanctioned nature of the communication when dealing with government entities.

C is answer When creating reports for government bodies, the project manager should use formal communication. Formal communication is the official mode of communication in which information is documented and transmitted through prescribed channels. It is used to convey information to external stakeholders, such as government bodies, and requires careful attention to language and tone to ensure accuracy and professionalism.

According the PMBOK, none of the answers are communication *types* themselves. PMBOK lists all these possible answers as *dimensions* of communication.

Selected Answer: C
it is Formal communication. As there are 5 types of communication: Interpersonal communication: This is the exchange of information between people, such as face-to-face conversations, phone calls, and video conferencing. Written communication: This includes emails, letters, memos, reports, and project documents. Formal communication: This is the official communication that follows established procedures and channels, such as project status reports and change requests. Informal communication: This is the spontaneous exchange of information that occurs within the project team, such as hallway conversations and impromptu meetings. Visual communication: This includes the use of diagrams, charts, graphs, and other visual aids to convey information.

NO. First, the PMBOK 6th doesn’t list “types” of communication. Interpersonal communication is an “approach”. Written is a *dimension*. Formal and informal are *dimensions*. Second, The definition of formal does not mention government bodies. 2 dimensions mention government bodies: external and official. External communications mentions government but only in the role of stakeholder. If the government is not a stakeholder, the answer must be OFFICIAL.

The communication is both external and official. However in my opinion Official is more correct as we are sending a report. External would be if we are sending an acknowledge, anoucement or feedback for example Official: Annual reports, reports to regulators or goverment p361
