In Scrum, incomplete user stories from a sprint are returned to the product backlog. They can then be reprioritized by the Product Owner based on their importance and relevance for future sprints. Extending the sprint length or advancing user stories automatically to the next sprint backlog is not in line with Agile principles.
When user stories are found to be incomplete during a retrospective, the recommended action is to move these user stories back to the product backlog for reprioritization. This allows the team to reevaluate their importance and plan accordingly for future sprints. It’s essential to maintain transparency and ensure that the backlog accurately reflects the team’s priorities
