Selected Answer: D
D....the resource management plan describes how to deal with people leaving the project. Since its near completion, the PM should inform the sponsor. This has nothing to do with escalation. First, finish something and then start somethign new.

Selected Answer: C
The project manager should consult the project team to understand the impact of key members' unavailability for the next 3 months. This involves discussing the resource constraints, assessing the potential impact on the project timeline, and exploring alternative solutions. The project manager may need to work with the team to adjust the project plan, possibly by redistributing tasks among the available resources, seeking temporary replacements, or adjusting the schedule as necessary. This proactive approach involves collaboration with the project team to find a solution that minimizes the impact on the project's success.

Selected Answer: D
D. Consult the resource management plan and escalate to the sponsor. This option ensures that the project manager evaluates the resource management plan to understand the implications of the key members' unavailability and how it affects the project's timeline and deliverables. Escalating the issue to the sponsor is crucial, especially if the absence of these key team members could significantly impact the project's success. This approach allows for a strategic decision regarding resource allocation, potential adjustments to the project schedule, and any necessary support from higher management to resolve the resource issues.

Given this sequence, C (consulting the team) should indeed be the first step. However, D (consulting the resource management plan and escalating) should follow in parallel, especially if the issue cannot be resolved internally. Both actions work hand-in-hand, with C focusing on immediate information gathering and D ensuring alignment with the plan and involving the sponsor if needed.

D. Consult the resource management plan and escalate to the sponsor Consulting the resource management plan and escalating to the sponsor helps address the issue of key team members' unavailability by involving higher management to find a solution. "C" is a valid approach but, it might not be sufficient to resolve the issue of critical resource availability on its own. Escalating to the sponsor ensures that higher management is aware of the problem and can provide support

Selected Answer: C
Consult your team first... why not D? Resource management plans detail how you'll acquire, develop, use, manage, control, and release the resources you need for a particular project. Basically, how you'll get the resources you need, turn them into a high-performing project team, and manage them effectively for project success.

Discussing with team would be the most direct approach to resolve the problem. Escalation is always a last resort.

Selected Answer: D
D. Consult the resource management plan and escalate to the sponsor (recommended): This is the most comprehensive approach. Here's why: Resource management plan: Reviewing the plan allows assessing whether alternative resources within the project team or organization can fill the temporary gap. Escalation to sponsor: If internal resources are unavailable, informing the sponsor early allows them to explore options like: Negotiating with the marketing team: The sponsor might have leverage to convince the marketing manager to prioritize the project even with limited resources. Hiring temporary staff: Depending on the budget and urgency, temporary replacements could be hired for the key missing roles. Adjusting the project schedule: Modifying the timeline with realistic milestones can be considered if necessary.
