A project manager was recently assigned to a banking IT project. The project team has been developing products using a predictive approach for more than 10 years, but management wants the team to change to an agile approach. The project manager met with the team to introduce the agile approach. Most of the team members complained about changing approaches because the performance of this team has always been above average among the IT teams in the bank.

Which two actions should the project manager take? (Choose two)

  • A. Interview the most resistant team members to persuade them to try to accept an agile approach.
  • B. Conduct training sessions with the team so that the team can understand what the agile approach and mindset are.
  • C. Brainstorm with the team to understand the specifics of the team’s project and to identity possible alternative approaches for the team.
  • D. Ask the team to identify the product backlog and create a kanban board for the team to manage and follow the approach.

The Project Manager should brainstorm with the team to understand the specifics of the team's project and to identify possible alternative approaches for the team. This will help the team to understand the Agile approach and how it can be applied to their project. The Project Manager should also conduct training sessions with the team so that the team can understand what the Agile approach and mindset are. This will help the team to learn the new approach and how it can be applied to their project.

Selected Answer: BC
Train them in Agile and then another way to reduce resistance to agile methods is to involve your team in the process of adopting and implementing them. Rather than imposing a top-down decision or a rigid framework, invite your team to co-create and customize the agile approach that works best for them.

B. Conduct training sessions with the team so that the team can understand what the agile approach and mindset are. Providing training on agile methodologies and principles can help the team members understand the rationale behind the shift to agile and how it can benefit them. Education can address their concerns and demystify agile practices. C. Brainstorm with the team to understand the specifics of the team’s project and to identify possible alternative approaches for the team. Engaging the team in a brainstorming session to discuss their specific project needs and challenges can help identify how agile principles can be tailored to suit their context. This collaborative approach allows the team to have input into the transition.

Ans AB. I dont understand how C can be an answer. The management asked to change to Agile approach. Where is the luxury to brainstorm with the team to discuss alternative approaches? So AB seem a bit logical instead of BC.

Brainstorm is not a luxury, it will induce different point of views and different alternatives more closely to the Agile approach than the predictive one that at the end will open the team member minds letting them understand that there are may different ways to manage a Project and also trough discussion will understand better the company strategy
