Selected Answer: C
A project manager should refer to the team charter, which typically outlines expectations regarding work schedules, communication, and collaboration. If weekend work is not acceptable to the team, the project manager should facilitate a discussion to find a suitable solution—such as adjusting deadlines, redistributing workloads, or using asynchronous collaboration tools. This ensures that the team remains aligned while respecting work-life balance. D cannot be the answer because delaying reports may not be an acceptable option; instead, the project manager should seek ways to ensure timely delivery without requiring weekend work.

Selected Answer: D
This is the most balanced and appropriate solution. By communicating with stakeholders upfront about potential delays due to time zone challenges and team preferences, the project manager sets realistic expectations and shows respect for the team’s work-life balance. It’s a proactive way of managing both team dynamics and stakeholder expectations.

D. This is another very tricky question even from a PMI perspective. 1. On one hand, the project manager could assume responsibilities as a servant leader for the team (answer A); however, this approach could lead to a possible overload of work for the PM. Moreover, reports should ideally be created collaboratively with the team, especially if the project manager lacks certain skills. 2. On the other hand, directing the team to work on weekends is not the best solution, as it decreases work-life balance and team morale (Answer C). 3. The third. It is definitely NOT advisable to avoid reporting altogether (Answer B). 4. Therefore, by logical elimination, the Best Answer: D) Communicate to the project stakeholders that the reports will be delayed certain months of the year.

D As per PMBOK; The project manager leading a geographically dispersed team, facing occasional weekend meetings due to time zone differences, should prioritize communication, respect team members' work-life balance, seek input for alternative solutions, explore flexible scheduling, leverage technology for asynchronous collaboration, manage expectations regarding weekend work, support work-life balance, and continuously monitor and adjust the approach based on feedback and project needs. This ensures effective collaboration while addressing team members' concerns and promoting a positive work environment. Adigun.

Between C & D, definitely C. Why would stakeholders compromise because of team member's preferences? Have the people would have chosen D worked in a actual project before?

Selected Answer: C
The team charter typically outlines the governance responsibilities, roles, and expectations of team members. By reminding team members of their governance responsibilities, the project manager reinforces the agreed-upon commitments and encourages a sense of accountability. This approach encourages the team to find collaborative solutions and ensures that everyone is aware of and respects the team's established working arrangements, even if adjustments may be needed to accommodate time zone differences.

D. Communicating any potential delays to stakeholders is a proactive approach. It allows for an open dialogue about the challenges faced due to time zone differences and ensures that all parties are informed. The project manager can also look into finding a middle ground or alternative solutions to meet the reporting needs without overburdening the team.

Selected Answer: D
While the team charter can define governance responsibilities and project expectations, it should also take into consideration the practical challenges of working across different time zones. In a geographically dispersed team, enforcing governance responsibilities rigidly without considering the team members' well-being and work-life balance might lead to decreased morale and productivity. In contrast, option D (communicating with project stakeholders about potential delays) recognizes the reality of the time differences and acknowledges the team members' concerns. This approach fosters transparency and understanding with stakeholders, who can then adjust their expectations and project plans accordingly.

I'd go for D. Communicating stakeholders that reports might be late some months. Even if they are done on weekends, stakeholders might as well not read them, so it makes sense to find a suitable timeframe for all the team so not to have them work weekends.

Communicating to the stakeholders that an update will be altered makes the most sense. Can't work on behalf of the team constantly, that is not a servant leader. Answer is D.
