Provision, Scale, Patch, and Upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure
The Rapid Home Provisioning Server can provision Oracle Grid Infrastructure (11g release 2 (11.2.0.4), and 12c release 1 (12.1.0.2) and release 2 (12.2)) homes, add or delete nodes from an Oracle Grid Infrastructure configuration, and can also be used to patch and upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure homes. In addition, there is a rollback capability that facilitates reverting from a patch procedure. While patching Oracle Grid infrastructure, you can use Rapid Home Provisioning to optionally patch any database homes hosted on the cluster.
Note:Rapid Home Provisioning does not provision, patch, or upgrade Oracle Restart, but you can provision single-instance databases on Oracle Restart, as explained in the subsequent section
D or E
RHP (18c) : Note also that Oracle Restart homes are not supported with RHP. Therefore to use RHP to patch or upgrade a SI DB running on Oracle Restart, you must first manually patch or upgrade the Oracle Restart binary to the same or higher level as the version of SI DB you will move to.
Fleet Patching (from February 2019): You can use Fleet Patching and Provisioning to provision, patch, and upgrade single-instance databases running on clusters or Oracle Restart, or on single, standalone nodes.
