Use Case Target Customer Use Performance Criteria Resulting Hot Tier (SSD)
General-purpose file shares Home directories, department shares User connections 2–5 percent
Performance-sensitive application shares: sequential Video, archives, log servers Read and write throughput Data processed in a given time period determines the working set calculation. The hot tier is composed of 4 SSDs per node.
Performance-sensitive application shares: random Applications, electronic design automation (EDA), software compilations, FSLogix IOPS Data processed in a given time period determines the working set calculation. The hot tier is composed of 4 SSDs per node.
VMS Video camera data Number of cameras, resolution, event percentage, compression, hours per day Variable, depending on inputs
There are three types of share workload types: default, random, and sequential. Designating a workload type determines the file system characteristics (including block size) used for the share, which optimizes the resource usage and performance of certain workloads.
