Why A Is Correct
According to SuiteAnswers, both Drop Ship and Special Order functionalities can be applied to inventory and non-inventory items for resale:
"When entering a sales order, select Drop Ship or Special Order in the Create PO column next to the item."
Why C Is Incorrect - Vendor ships items to customer’s address only applies to Drop Ship items, not Special Order items. For Special Order items, the vendor ships to the company's warehouse or another location.
Why B Is Incorrect - While items can be manually set as Drop Ship or Special Order, they cannot be both simultaneously on the same sales order line.
Why D Is Incorrect - Impact Asset and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts upon item receipt and fulfillment is inaccurate for Drop Ship items because they don’t go through inventory. Special Order items may impact these accounts, but Drop Ship items do not.
For Drop Ship and Special Order items, the vendor ships the items directly to the customer instead of the company’s warehouse. This eliminates the need for the company to handle inventory but requires careful coordination between the vendor and customer.
Its, A
"Identifying Special Orders
You can special order any inventory items and non-inventory for resale items. "
And
"Marking an Item for Drop Shipment
Items you resell can be automatically ordered and shipped directly to your customers from your vendors. When you mark an item for drop shipment, any approved sales order for that item generates a purchase order.
You can drop ship these item types:
Inventory item
Non-inventory for resale item"
