It is recommended to conduct the simulations in your own test lab (you can get a trial for testing Azure from Microsoft). I have gone through this process myself and have come to the following result (I did NOT find the other mentioned menu items): Search for the Vault in Azure and open it. Under Diagnostic settings, select Categories: Azure Backup Reporting Data, and under Destination details, select the Subscription and the Log Analytics Workspace. Save and you are done!

Sign in to the Azure portal. Navigate to Vault1 Recovery Services vault. In the left-hand menu, click on Backup Reports under the Monitoring and Reports section. In the Backup Reports blade, click on Configure. In the Diagnostics Settings blade, click on Add diagnostic setting. In the Diagnostic settings blade, provide a name for the setting. Under Log, check the box for AzureBackupReport. Under Destination details, select Send to Log Analytics workspace. In the Log Analytics workspace dropdown, select WS12345678. Click on Save to apply the changes.

Also remember to change the Destination table to Azure diagnostics, as the AzureBackupReport event works only in 'Azure diagnostics' mode.
