Correct: No Connection monitor has no interval and only monitors ONE src/dst port (not all)

the reason why it's not packet capture is it's specifically from vm1 to vm2, which connection monitor does.

Packet Capture fits this requirement, as you can filter which traffic to capture (local ip, local port, remote ip, remote port).

You can use packet capture for inspecting traffic from VM1 to VM2 , if you configure it to select Target Machine as VM2 and use the filter for Remote IP to be the IP of VM1

It seems like you can't monitor "ALL" traffic with Network monitor. You have to specify an interval for it to poll. If you poll it every 10 seconds (or whatever) you don't have ALL the traffic

I think the answer is No. Packet capture is more suited for traffic inspection: https://www.petri.com/capturing-inspecting-traffic-azure-networks

There are several versions of this question. The following are the possible Correct and Incorrect solutions. Correct solution: Meets the goal. -Solution: From Azure Network Watcher, you create a packet capture. Incorrect solution: Does not meet the goal. -Solution: From Azure Monitor, you create a metric on Network In and Network Out. -Solution: From Azure Network Watcher, you create a connection monitor. -Solution: From Performance Monitor, you create a Data Collector Set (DCS).

Packet Capture is suggested to monitor inbound & outbound traffic on a VM. Here it is about monitor connection between 2 VMs - hence Connection Monitor looks the right one Reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/network-watcher/connection-monitor

No, not only the connection from VM1 to VM2 but the traffics. So it needs packet captures with Azure Network Watcher. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/network-watcher/network-watcher-packet-capture-manage-portal

The answer is B. The test returns similar information returned when using the connection monitor capability, but tests the connection at a point in time, rather than monitoring it over time, as connection monitor does.

Have been reading through series of responses, The question has generated quite interesting response, Having gone through series of reading and testing, my answer is B because connection only ensure communication link between the the VM. Please read the link below.... https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/network-watcher/connection-monitor i.e, Connection monitor informs you that the reason for the communication failure You need to inspect all the network traffic from VM1 to VM2 for a period of three hours. through Azure Network Watcher, you create a packet capture.

Connection Monitor The CONNECTION MONITOR tests the connection at a point in time, rather than monitoring it over time, as connection. In the question it was clearly asked as : for a period of three hours. So the answer is No. You need to inspect all the network traffic from VM1 to VM2 for a period of three hours. the question pertains to network traffic. to me that means all network traffic, they arent asking for a specific port which is what you can monitor with connection monitor. the answer for me is B. From portal itself Network Watcher Connection Monitor enables you to configure and track connection reachability, latency, and network topology changes

Answer is Yes as per below definition The Connection Monitor feature in Azure Network Watcher is now generally available in all public regions. Connection Monitor provides you RTT values on a per-minute granularity. You can monitor a direct TCP connection from a virtual machine to a virtual machine, FQDN, URI, or IPv4 address.
