This is a dumb question with only one possible answer bases on a process of elimination: 1) It is NOT - Azure Active Directory B2C provides business-to-customer identity as a service. . 2) It is NOT Managed identities as this is based on TOKENS and applications DO NOT NEED to manage any credentials. 3) It is not Azure role-based access control (Azure RBAC) as roles are naught to do with authentication. It only leaves MFA: Multi-factor authentication is an electronic authentication method in which a user is granted access to a website or application only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence to an authentication mechanism. As already mentioned a password is "something we know" and a security question is also "something we know" Proper MFA Authentication using two or more factors to achieve authentication. Factors are (i) something you know (e.g., password/personal identification number); (ii) something you have (e.g., cryptographic identification device, token); and (iii) something you are (e.g., biometric).

Something you know, typically a password. Something you have, such as a trusted device that's not easily duplicated, like a phone or hardware key. Something you are - biometrics like a fingerprint or face scan
