Selected Answer: A
Filter option would filter the column chart based on selection in the column chart but would not allow to "see WHICH PORTION of the total series" but just the total value for the selected value

Answer is filter. Filter will show you the filtered data in this visual. it will still display well in the column visual. Highlight shows you both the unfiltered and filtered values in the visual, for comparison purposes. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/power-bi-effective-user-experience/ https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/service-reports-visual-interactions?tabs=powerbi-desktop

The answer is highlight. Since in the question it is written "see which portion of the total sales for the month belongs to the customer segment", so we need to see even unrelated data. So, filter does not work here and we must select highlight as a correct answer.

might be wise to explain the how to; in your report, you will have two visuals, master and slave. Select FORMAT then slect you Master visual (the one who will send the reaction to the second one) In Format, first button on the left --> Edit Interactions In your slave visual you will see 3 grey icons appearing on the right: filter, highlight, no impact choose appropriate Note that by DEFAULT, interaction is highlight so basically you should do nothing

it is A. The keywords here are "to see the portion of the total sale", which means there is a comparison between the total and the sales made by a particular segment, and we want to see that comparison visually.

I don't like this question. If you watch the full video linked in another comment ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fwjqEWbr1c ) you'll see that you can technically use either filter or highlight. It's really a matter of personal preference. If the question had specified that both the total sales for each month AND the portion for a selected customer segment should be visible at the same time then answer would definitely be highlight. The question does not state that you should still be able to see full data for each month when when a customer segment is selected so the answer is unclear.

B is the correct answer. By setting the interaction to "filter", selecting a segment in the bar chart will filter the data in the column chart to show the sales for that specific segment. Highlight cannot be the right answer, because it is typically used to emphasize data points while maintaining the context of the entire chart, which may not be suitable for showing the portion of total sales. No Impact cannot be the right answer, because it column chart would continue to display data as if nothing was selected in the bar char.
