The answer is correct. When you use Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) or the Active Directory Users and Computers console (Dsa.msc) that is included with Windows Server to delete a domain controller computer account from the Domain Controllers organizational unit (OU), the cleanup of server metadata is performed automatically. Before Windows Server 2008, you had to perform a separate metadata cleanup procedure. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/deploy/ad-ds-metadata-cleanup

You need to perform metadata clean up first, then remove the DC object. The given answer is incorrect. (but debatable)

This happens in AD sites and services where you first need to delete the NTDS Settings object below the computer account to cleanup the server metadata. In active directory users and computers you just delete the DC object and the server metadata cleanup is performed automatically. "Clean up server metadata using GUI tools When you use Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) or the Active Directory Users and Computers console (Dsa.msc) that is included with Windows Server to delete a domain controller computer account from the Domain Controllers organizational unit (OU), the cleanup of server metadata is performed automatically. Before Windows Server 2008, you had to perform a separate metadata cleanup procedure. You can also use the Active Directory Sites and Services console (Dssite.msc) to delete a domain controller's computer account, which also completes metadata cleanup automatically. However, Active Directory Sites and Services removes the metadata automatically only when you first delete the NTDS Settings object below the computer account in Dssite.msc."

Correct, as per the alexnt's link, A is correct. There are three ways: # Clean up server metadata using Active Directory Users and Computers # Clean up server metadata using Active Directory Sites and Services # Clean up server metadata by using Ntdsutil

The answer is yes, which is A. there is a similiar question which stated that you remove the object from AD sites and service which lead to the answer is NO, please note that there is a big diffrent between removing objact from the AD computer and user and AD site and services.

read link about metadata cleanup ... Metadata cleanup removes data from AD DS that identifies a domain controller to the replication system. Metadata cleanup also removes File Replication Service (FRS) and Distributed File System (DFS) Replication ... so metadata cleanup shold be the only correct answer to this series ... https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/deploy/ad-ds-metadata-cleanup

the link provided is wrong ... because it's about when dcpromo fail ... i think you should really do a metada cleanup ... all other things (even deleting under sites and services) leaves the AD in a inconsisten state

Deleting the object through ADUC won't prevent other controllers from replicating. You need to delete the object under Active Directory Sites and Trust.

Metadata cleanup removes data from AD DS that identifies a domain controller to the replication system. Metadata cleanup also removes File Replication Service (FRS) and Distributed File System (DFS) Replication connections and attempts to transfer or seize any operations master. Can use ADUC, ADSS or ntdsutil https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/deploy/ad-ds-metadata-cleanup

You can: 1. Clean up server metadata using Active Directory Users and Computers. 2. Clean up server metadata using Active Directory Sites and Services. 3. Clean up server metadata using the command line "Ntdsutil". Link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/identity/ad-ds/deploy/ad-ds-metadata-cleanup
