Yes, Yes, No https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/ediscovery?view=o365-worldwide For the third one, you can put on-hold on data under investigation but this not the same as "retained for seven years and then deleted"

I think it should be 1) yes 2) Yes 3) Yes as you can out stuff on hold HOWEVER, i cannot find anything that it states 7 years and then deletes. so for 3 i am tempted to say No.

"When you place content locations on hold, content is preserved until you remove the content location from the hold or until you delete the hold." https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/create-ediscovery-holds?view=o365-worldwide

For 2: After a Microsoft Purview eDiscovery (Standard) case is created and people of interest in the case are placed on hold, you can create and run one or more searches for content relevant to the case. -- I'm so over this - sitting my exam tomorrow, SEND ME YOUR ENERGY PEOPLE OF EARTH https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/search-for-content-in-core-ediscovery?view=o365-worldwide

Yes. Yes: This statement is true. Microsoft eDiscovery tools, such as those available in the Microsoft Purview compliance portal, can indeed be used to search for documents and files stored in SharePoint Online No: While Microsoft eDiscovery itself is primarily used for searching and exporting data, retention policies and labels within Microsoft Purview can be used to manage the retention and deletion of documents in SharePoint sites. You can set retention policies to retain documents for a specific period, such as seven years, and then automatically delete them

I was wondering about the reason for the 2nd and 3rd NO answer. My best solution is a game with the words. Definition: "E-discovery is a form of digital investigation that attempts to find evidence in email, business communications and other data that could be used in litigation or criminal proceedings." But the 2nd sentence states: "eDiscovery can be used to search for specific documents" and not identify an evidence. And the 3rd one is connected to the 2nd, so the problem is the same. Specific doc is not evidence in legal case. Am I correct?

1. YES. Microsoft eDiscovery is a tool used to search and collect content from various sources, including emails, to identify and preserve evidence in legal cases. 2. YES. Microsoft eDiscovery can search for specific documents stored in SharePoint Online, as well as other locations like OneDrive for Business and Exchange Online. 3. YES? While Microsoft eDiscovery can be used to help ensure compliance with retention policies, it does not automatically delete documents after seven years. Instead, retention policies need to be set up separately in Microsoft 365 compliance center or Microsoft SharePoint. Microsoft eDiscovery can help identify documents that should be retained or deleted based on those policies.

3rd yes: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/retention?view=o365-worldwide Note It's possible for a retention period of 5 years in a retention policy or label wins over a retention period of 7 years in a retention policy or label, because the 5-year period is configured to start based on when the file is last modified, and the 7-year period is configured to start from when the file is created.

2) is YES. from learn.microsoft.com: "You can use eDiscovery tools in Microsoft Purview to search for content in Exchange Online, OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 Groups, and Yammer teams. You can search mailboxes and sites in the same eDiscovery search, and then export the search results."
