Question #: 44
Topic #: 3
[All MD-101 Questions]

Your network contains an Active Directory domain. The domain contains computers that run Windows 10.
All users use Roaming User Profiles.
You have a user named Public1 that is used to sign-in to a public computer.
You need to prevent changes to the user settings of Public1 from being saved to the user profile.
What should you do?

  • A. Rename the Roaming User Profile folder to Public1.man
  • B. Rename Ntuser.dat to Ntuser.v6
  • C. Rename Ntuser.dat to Ntuser.man
  • D. Rename the Roaming User Profile folder to Public1.v1
Show Suggested Answer Hide Answer
Suggested Answer: C 🗳️
User profiles become mandatory profiles when the administrator renames the NTuser.dat file (the registry hive) of each user's profile in the file system of the profile server from NTuser.dat to NTuser.man. The .man extension causes the user profile to be a read-only profile.

To create a mandatory roaming profile, the ntuser.dat file (located at the root of the profile) is renamed to ntuser.man. This may be stored in a network share identified as \\DC1\Profiles.

I think A is the correct answer. All users have roaming profiles, and the request says "You need to prevent changes to the user settings of Public1 from being saved to the user profile" (only Public1). C option applies to all users, if you choose super-mandatory profile, you can set mandatory profile only to Public1 ( https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/desktop/legacy/bb776895(v=vs.85) )

Every user has a NTUSER.DAT when the user signs in, you rename the NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN for that user.
