Agreed, Set-csuser cmdlet is the only way to change direct routing number. This cannot be done in TAC.

yes in 2023 & 2024 you can now do it in TAC....Go to the Microsoft Teams admin center. Click Users > Manage users. Select the user to whom you want to assign a phone number. Under Account, click Edit. Under Assign phone number, select Direct Routing from the Phone number type drop-down menu. Enter the phone number that you want to assign to the user. Click Apply. the PS CMD also changed to Set-CsPhoneNumberAssignment -Identity [email protected] -PhoneNumber +14255551225 -PhoneNumberType DirectRouting

Set-csuser was deprecated in 2022. So what should be the correct answer in 2023? I guess they updated this question too. Doe's anybody know the new version?

1. correct 2. I’m not sure... one side, you can use the Microsoft Teams Admin Center.. see the Step 4 https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/direct-routing-voice-routing#step-4-assign-the-voice-routing-policy-to-a-user-named-spencer-low but we can use cmdlt PowerShell too at the same article... maybe both answers are right

I Agree with Dooa, Direct Routing is for situations where you have an old PBX phone system, you will need to use the set-csuser PowerShell cmdlet. For user2 (Direct Routing) - Set-CsUser -Identity "[email protected]" -OnPremLineURI "tel:+XXXXXXXXX". You cannot assign Direct Routing Tlf members from Teams Admin Center

I agree, we have implemented a customer with direct routing and the phone number from these users cant be switched from the Teams Admin portal

I agree, user2 should be Set-CsUser to remove the number and then reassign if needed.
