I get that we can infer its private because of the IP address range 10. or 192. are private but having to know only that container groups are only supported on Linux. Why?

A & C Container group deployment to a virtual network is generally available for Linux containers. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/container-instances/container-instances-virtual-network-concepts#unsupported-networking-scenarios All Internal services must only be accessible from internal Virtual Networks (VNets).
