As far as I can see you can do this in two places: Exchange admin --> Mailbox --> Mailbox features --> Litigation Hold --> enable --> 90 days or a retention policy in de compliance center, location Exchange , included mailbox --> retains items 90 days

Answer is completely incorrect. Retention Tags are applied to user Mailboxes (what to do with items - i. e. move them to another folder, archive or delete) as a default, it is also possible to assign addition tags for end-users to select for themselves.... Here need to create retention policy which would retain items for 90 days and apply this policy to that one mailbox... Please note that Retention TAGS and Retention POLICIES are two different things..

The scenario doesn't specify a retention policy must be used. A litigation hold would accomplish the same thing in fewer steps. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/policy-and-compliance/holds/litigation-holds?view=exchserver-2019

Lit hold is forever, and is intended for different circumstances; this scenario is asking for 90 days. It is normally not desired to retain data for longer than is legally required.

Given answer is correct, but it's tricky. the same labels and policies can be created and assigned in the compliance portal, but the policies exist separately from the ones in Exchange.

Hello, you can create a retention policy for Exchange in the Security and Compliance Centre, however you can set 90 days, on 29 days. You can set 3 months but I don't know if that qualifies for the criteria. I would lean more towards creating it in Exchange Admin Center for this reason.
