No, No, Yes 1. 1.0 isn't legacy format. It is a modern format. The Version would be blank if it was legacy. 2. The connection is null, and it looks like it is referencing a file, so it doesn't seem to be using the Service. 3. Since the semantic model is referenced locally (via byPath), Power BI Desktop can load the dataset file and allow edits to the model. This behavior aligns with how local datasets are treated in Power BI Desktop. Hope this helps!

1. "definition.pbir is in the PBIR-Legacy format." The file uses the .pbir extension, which is associated with Power BI Report files. The JSON structure shows "version": "1.0", which is consistent with the newer format (not legacy). The legacy format typically uses .pbix or .rdl files. Answer: No. "The semantic model referenced by definition.pbir is located in the Power BI service." The JSON references the semantic model using "byPath" with a local path "../Sales.Dataset". This indicates the semantic model is stored locally, not in the Power BI service. If it were in the service, it would likely use "byConnection" with a service URL or similar. Answer: No. "When the related report is opened, Power BI Desktop will open the semantic model in full edit mode." Since the semantic model is referenced locally ("byPath"), Power BI Desktop will open it in full edit mode, allowing modifications to the model. Answer: Yes.

Yes, no, no https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/developer/projects/projects-report#definitionpbir. When byConnection is set, it will not open in full edit mode, when version 1.0 is specified it must be stored as legacy format, and there is no path specified for the pbi service

changing this answer, since byconnection is null and the connection is specified in path, it is going to open in full edit mode.
