HOTSPOT -

Your network contains an on-premises Active Directory domain named contoso.com that syncs to Azure AD.

A user named User1 uses the domain-joined devices shown in the following table.

In the Microsoft Entra admin center, you assign a Windows 11 Enterprise E5 license to User1.

You need to identify what will occur when User1 next signs in to the devices.

What should you identify for each device? To answer, select the appropriate options in the answer area.

Funny to see this answer. Device would not upgrade automatically in any case. Do you wish to see that kind of mess in production if someone just assigned a license to a user? 1. Will not upgrade to Windows 11 ent 2. Will activate as Windows 11 ent

No, what we pay for is access to the questions and the discussions that contain the correct answers and (usually) links to verify that those are indeed the correct answers. Any ET regular knows to always ignore the given answers. I've often wondering if intentionally incorrect answers is an attempt to not get sued.

I would say nothign will happen on both devices. Devices must be Microsoft Entra joined or Microsoft Entra hybrid joined. Workgroup-joined or Microsoft Entra registered devices aren't supported. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-subscription-activation?pivots=windows-11#requirements

"The correct answer is "nothing will happen". The devices are "domain joined". You don't need to analyze anything else as devices need to be hybrid joined or AAD joined for the activation to work. Nothing will happen on a domain joined machine."

It's the most basic knowledge that subscription activation upgrades Windows 11 pro to Windows 11 Enterprise. IT DOESNT DO Os UPGRADES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing (or I HOPE we didn't) pay for the answers. We DID pay for the Discussions because quite frankly it's the only part of this "resource" that has much merit at all. Agree with Contactfornitish.

QUOTE: Note Subscription activation is available for qualifying devices running currently supported versions of Windows. Subscription activation can't be used to upgrade to a newer version of Windows. Note the NEWER VERSION STATEMENT! https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-subscription-activation?pivots=windows-11

So many wrong answers from people who might not even know the concepts or have never worked with Intune. The correct answer is "nothing will happen". The devices are "domain joined". You don't need to analyze anything else as devices need to be hybrid joined or AAD joined for the activation to work. Nothing will happen on a domain joined machine.

When User1 next signs in to the devices after being assigned a Windows 11 Enterprise E5 license, the following will occur: Device1 (Windows 10 Pro): Will activate as Windows 11 Enterprise. Device2 (Windows 11 Pro): Will activate as Windows 11 Enterprise. Assigning the Windows 11 Enterprise E5 license will upgrade the devices to the Enterprise edition if they are running a compatible version of Windows. Since both Device1 and Device2 are running Pro editions, they will activate as Windows 11 Enterprise upon the next sign-in.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/windows-subscription-activation?pivots=windows-10 The device is Microsoft Entra joined, for example from the Access work or school pane in the Settings app that can be found under Settings > Accounts > Access work or school. Windows Enterprise is assigned to a user, for example through the Microsoft 365 admin center. When a licensed user signs in to a device that meets requirements using their Microsoft Entra credentials, Windows steps up from Pro edition to Enterprise, or from Pro Education to Education. Once the edition is stepped up, Enterprise/Education features are unlocked. When a user's subscription expires or is transferred to another user, the device reverts seamlessly to Windows Pro or Windows Pro Education edition, once the current subscription validity expires. Same text for both win 10 and win 11 versions of page

should the devices not be Hybrid joined as well? If only the user is synced, but not the devices, then nothing will happen on both devices. It states domain joined and not Hybrid joined
