Autopilot would require resetting the device, provisioning package can be loaded during normal use of the OS. Doesn't require resetting/wiping etc.

In my exprience all the new devices use out-of-box exprience. from out-of-box experience you should be able to enroll the device in Intune by using Autopilot.

Agree with letters1234, every Auto-pilot case requires a full reset. If you sysprepped a device beforehand, it would allow to then auto-pilot after using MDT's task sequences but not needed here.

The best recommendation to achieve the goal of upgrading the computers to Windows 10 Enterprise, joining the computers to Azure AD, and installing several Microsoft Store apps while ensuring that any applications installed by the users are retained and minimizing user intervention is: A. Windows Autopilot Windows Autopilot is specifically designed for this type of scenario. It allows for the configuration and deployment of devices in a way that minimizes user intervention, retains user-installed applications, and can handle the upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise and the joining of devices to Azure AD.

The question didn't mention anything about availability of Intune whereas Autopilot requires Intune. Based on this, using Autopilot is not a solution.

Answer is C. Autopilot requires full device reset. Autopilot is not the same as Intune. It's the process of enrolling the device in Intune. C is a better solution, since it doesn't require device reset.

Autopilot SHOULD NOT be used for BYOD devices. WCD can do all - including the PRO-->ENT upgrade via UpgradeEditionWithProductKey.

The best recommendation to achieve the goal of upgrading the computers to Windows 10 Enterprise, joining them to Azure AD, and installing several Microsoft Store apps while retaining user-installed applications and minimizing user intervention is Windows Autopilot (Option A). Windows Autopilot is designed for streamlined and user-driven deployment scenarios. With Autopilot, you can configure the devices to upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise, join Azure AD, and also include the installation of specified Microsoft Store apps. It allows for minimal user intervention, ensuring a smooth upgrade process while retaining user-installed applications and providing a seamless out-of-box experience for users.

Since it is almost 50/50 here, I will go with gpt. Using a **Windows Configuration Designer provisioning package (Option C)** could also potentially achieve parts of the requirements, like joining the computers to Azure AD and installing Microsoft Store apps. However, it might not directly address the upgrade from Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Enterprise, which is a significant part of the scenario. The Configuration Designer provisioning package is more focused on configuring settings, policies, and deploying apps to devices. While it could help join the computers to Azure AD and install apps, it might not handle the OS upgrade and the retention of user-installed applications as effectively as Windows Autopilot. Autopilot offers a more holistic approach that covers the entire deployment process, including the OS upgrade, user data retention, Azure AD joining, and app installation, providing a smoother and more comprehensive deployment experience.

"[WCD] it might not handle the OS upgrade and the retention of user-installed applications as effectively as Windows Autopilot". 2 big issues with Autopilot is it requires and full device wipe and reload every time you deploy with it and also Microsoft constantly mentions that the purpose of Autopilot is for corporate owned Entra joined or Entra Hybrid joined devices and should not be used to enroll BYOD devices
