Four options are : - Retire - Wipe - Fresh Start (+ unselecting the option "Retain user data") - Remote lock (lock the device and force the user to enter its PIN Code ) => It secures the data. - Delete is a wrong answer : it only removes the device from the Intune list.

I agree - see below - the data stays on the device until the next time it checks into intune - so data is not secured If you want to remove devices from the Intune portal, you can delete them from the specific device pane. The next time the device checks in, any company data on it will be removed as Intune also retires a device when deleting it from the console.

No, it's not a wrong answer. When you click on delete it calls the retire command, so it's the same but with removing also the device from the list. Delete is similar to retire except it removes it from the list immediately. After deleting, the device will be removed from the all devices list and then when next powered on, it'll begin the 'retire' process automatically. Retire will stay in the list until the retire process is complete

Retire, Delete, Wipe, and Fresh start, all have options to remove/secure the data from the device. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/remote-actions/devices-wipe Remote lock is not an option because this happens to be a Windows 10 desktop device: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/remote-actions/device-remote-lock

Retire, Wipe, Delete and Fresh start options all provide data removal in various forms • A Wipe restores a device back to its factory settings (back to OOBE). This is what you should use for a lost or stolen device, since data can’t be restored. • Retire, on the other hand, removes only managed data & apps. • Delete is nearly identical to Retire. Both options will remove the same company data from a device. But while Retire will wait for a device to check-in before removing it from the portal, Delete immediately deletes the record in Intune. In general it’s recommended to Retire a device before Deleting it, but if you have stale records from re-provisioning locally you can use Delete. • Fresh Start is nearly identical to Wipe. Just like with the Wipe, Fresh Start includes the option to retain user data on the device. • Remote lock not supported for windows 10 desktop. • Restart will just restart the device.

I would say, wipe, retire, restart (need to login again or enter pin - so it's secure), fresh restart (don't keep user data option).

Sticking with Fresh Start Guys as the 4th Option as Rickerttt explains Fresh Start will give you a clean installation of windows, after you have wiped, retired and deleted, giving you a fresh device. Have a look or tell me i am wrong :-) https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4012986/windows-security-track-device-performance-health

Fresh restart keeps the data on the device. (it will only Install Windows again) So I will go for: Wipe, retire, delete, remote lock
