Click the Exhibit button. You manage the Layer 2 network shown in the exhibit. You experience a failure on the ge-0/0/0 link between Switch-1 and Switch-2. Which statement is correct about the expected behavior?
A.
Switch-2 will remove itself from the RSTP topology
B.
Switch-2's ge-0/0/2 port role and state will transition to root and forwarding
C.
Switch-2 will become the root bridge for a separate RSTP topology
D.
Switch-2's ge-0/0/2 port role and state will remain as designated and forwarding
It cannot be D. When ge-0/0/0 link fails, SW-2 will have no root port. Each switch in STP topology must have one root port.
In this topology, what happens is: sw-2 temporarily will assume itself is the root bridge, and will start behaving as root bridge. However, sw-3 shortly will notice and tell sw-2 back that it is not the root bridge, instead sw-1 keeps beiing the root bridge and the path to reach the root bridge is via sw-3. At this point sw-2 interface will become root. I hope this helps :)
