AB A: Per Juniper documentation (link below), "The interchassis link (ICL), also known as the interchassis link-protection link (ICL-PL), is used to forward data traffic across the MC-LAG peers." It's also used for Control Plane and sync between peers as another commenter stated...but as documented, also forwards traffic.
